1. Who we are

Octo Calculator ("we", "our", "us") operates the website at octocalculator.com. This policy explains how we collect and use information when you visit our site.

2. What data we collect

We collect minimal data to understand how our site is used and to serve advertising. We do not collect any of the values you enter into our calculators — those exist only in your browser.

• Usage data: Pages visited, time on site, browser type, country, and referrer — collected anonymously via Google Analytics 4.
• Advertising data: When you consent to advertising, Google AdSense may collect data to serve relevant ads. This includes cookies that track browsing behaviour across sites in the Google network.

Inbound Communications (Email Inquiries)

If you contact us directly via email (such as writing to support@octocalculator.com), we collect your email address, name (if provided), and the content of your message.

• Legal Basis: We process this data based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) to reply to your questions, resolve technical bugs, or fulfill legal obligations.
• Data Infrastructure, Routing & Retention: Your emails are initially handled and securely routed by our infrastructure provider, Cloudflare, Inc. (USA), which forwards the communication packets directly to our destination mailbox hosted by Google LLC (USA). By sending an inquiry, you acknowledge that your communication data is transferred internationally to these entities to fulfill your request. We never use your email address for marketing lists, and we permanently delete communication history from our mailboxes once your inquiry is completely resolved unless legally required to retain it.

3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Consent — for analytics and advertising cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time using the Manage cookies link in our footer.
• Legitimate interests — for basic server logging necessary to operate the site securely.

4. Google services

We use Google Analytics 4 (via Cloudflare Zaraz) to collect anonymised usage statistics. We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Both services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

We have implemented Google Consent Mode v2. Analytics and advertising scripts only activate after you grant consent. Before consent, only anonymised, aggregate signals are sent.

Advertising (Google AdSense) — Please note that while our infrastructure is prepared to integrate Google AdSense, advertisements are currently inactive, and no ad-tracking banners are running on the website. Once activated, AdSense will use cookies to serve personalized ads based on your visits to this and other websites, subject to your prior consent via our cookie banner.

5. Data retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months. We do not maintain any separate database of user data.

6. Your rights

Under GDPR and applicable laws you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing
• Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing)
• Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

Because your calculations run entirely locally, our collection of data relates directly to analytics and advertising choices managed entirely via Cloudflare Zaraz. You can instantly review, alter, or revoke your data sharing permissions on our site by clicking the Manage cookies selection link. For wider global profile control, you can manage Google's cross-site ecosystem logs at myaccount.google.com.

7. Third-party links

Our website and content may contain links to external websites, platforms, resources, and social networks (such as X.com) that are not operated by us. Once you click these links and leave Octo Calculator, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the tracking technologies, cookies, or privacy practices of third-party sites. We highly recommend reviewing the individual privacy policy of any external website you visit.

8. Children

Our site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
