Redacted Text
This is plain Unicode text, not an image or real redaction — it pastes correctly anywhere, but doesn't remove the original text from anything it's covering.

How this actually works

Your text is converted into plain Unicode text by replacing each word or number with a block character while keeping spaces, line breaks, and punctuation in place. There’s no image, no special font, and no real redaction happening. Because the result is still ordinary text, you can copy and paste it anywhere regular text is accepted.

Block styles

  • Solid — the heaviest block, closest to the look of an official censor bar
  • Dark Shade — slightly lighter, with a distressed or photocopied feel
  • Medium Shade — a lighter, more open texture
  • Light Shade — the most subtle option, more like a faint redaction effect

Coverage: full blackout or a "leaked document" look

100% coverage redacts every word and number in your text. Lower coverage settings redact a random selection instead, leaving some of the original text visible. This creates a partially leaked or lightly censored look. Use the Shuffle button to generate a different random redaction pattern at the same coverage level without retyping your text.

Frequently asked questions

Will redacted text work on Discord and social media?

Yes — the output is ordinary Unicode text, so it can be copied and pasted into Discord messages, social media posts, comments, chats, and most other platforms that accept plain text.

Does this actually hide or remove the original text?

No. This is a visual text effect only. It replaces the selected words or numbers with Unicode block characters to create the look of a redacted document. It does not remove, encrypt, or conceal information underneath the blocks. Once the text is replaced, the original wording cannot be recovered from the generated output. For genuine redaction of sensitive information in real documents, use dedicated redaction software that permanently removes the underlying data.

Why does the bar length match my original words?

Each character in a redacted word is replaced with a block character, so longer words produce longer blocks. Spaces and punctuation remain in their original positions. This preserves the rough shape and spacing of the original text while hiding the actual words.
