Which countries are included
This tool draws from the 193 United Nations member states — the most widely used, least disputed baseline for "how many countries are there." Broader lists exist that also include places like Taiwan, Kosovo, Palestine, or Western Sahara, but whether to count those is a matter of genuine, active political dispute between different governments, not a settled fact a random generator can quietly decide on your behalf. Sticking to UN membership avoids taking that stance either way.
Filtering by region
Uncheck any region you don't want in the running — useful for "a random country in Africa" or "a random South American country" rather than the full worldwide pool. Regions follow common continental groupings: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America (including Central America and the Caribbean), South America, and Oceania.

Countries are grouped by common geographic classification. Some countries span multiple continents, so they are assigned to the region where they are most commonly classified for geographic purposes.

How does the random country generator work?
The generator randomly selects countries from the countries included in your selected regions. You can choose one country or generate up to 10 countries at once.
Can I generate more than one country at once?
Yes — set "How Many" to the number you need (up to 10). Each result is a distinct country, never repeated within the same draw.
Can I generate random countries without repeats?
Yes. Turn on "Don't repeat countries" to exclude countries that have already been selected. Once every eligible country has been selected, the generator starts a new cycle.
Can I pick a random country from a specific region?
Yes. Select only the regions you want to include, such as Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, or Oceania. The generator then picks only from those regions.
Can the same country appear twice?
No. A country cannot appear more than once in the same draw. If "Don't repeat countries" is enabled, previously selected countries are also excluded from future draws until the current cycle is complete.
