Picking a letter vs. shuffling the whole alphabet
This tool picks one or a few random letters and leaves the rest out of the result — the letters you don't need never appear. If you want the opposite — every letter A through Z handed back in a new random order, nothing left out — that's a different tool: the Random List Generator's Letters mode shuffles the full alphabet (or any range within it) instead of selecting from it.
Vowels and consonants
"Vowels Only" narrows the pool to A, E, I, O, and U. "Consonants Only" narrows it to the other 21 letters. Multiple letters picked in the same draw are always distinct — requesting 3 letters never returns the same letter twice in that result.
Frequently asked questions
How do I generate a random letter?
Click "Pick a Letter" above. All 26 letters are included by default, each with an equal chance.
Can I get a random vowel or a random consonant specifically?
Yes — use the "Vowels Only" or "Consonants Only" preset before generating, or check exactly the letters you want by hand.
